About Southern Woodsmith

Southern Woodsmith, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Allen Ponder in Pelham, AL with the intent of providing quality custom cabinets and architectural millwork.  Building on the relationships Allen had formed over the past couple decades working in the Birmingham area commercial construction community, the company grew into one of the premium commercial millwork companies in the state of Alabama.  Reed Robinson joined the company in 2012 as an estimator and helped the company continue to grow.  Reed bought the company from Allen in 2021 and Allen retired in 2023. 

The company relies on a combination of the latest Computer Numeric Controlled software/equipment and centuries-old craftsmanship to provide high end cabinets and millwork.  We produce a wide variety of custom cabinets including plastic laminate and wood veneers.  We commonly fabricate and finish wood paneling, reception desks, nurse stations, etc.  We have the ability to produce any profile of wood molding from historical restoration to new custom designs.  We have our own in-house finish booth where can match any paint or stain color. 

We also have our own installation crews to ensure that all products are installed with the same level of craftsmanship as it was manufactured.  Southern Woodsmith primarily covers the state of Alabama and other neighboring communities.
